(CBS) — The former President of the South Suburban Branch of the NAACP has filed three lawsuits recently alleging racial discrimination and promises more as the leader of an locally-based organization fighting for equality, reports WBBM’s Mike Krauser.

It’s called the Living and Driving While Black Foundation headed by David Lowery.

“Living conditions and driving conditions are the worst for black people on the face of the planet and that is what we do, address those issues,” said Lowery.

Lowery is going after, among others, suburban police departments.

“We have found so many problems out here in the south suburbs, there is a drastic racial profiling problem,” said Lowery.

Evergreen Park was found by Lowery’s organization and the Better Government Association to have traffic stop numbers that raise flags. The foundation is planning to file a racial profiling suit.

It has found others alleging various forms of racial discrimination. Lowery’s organization is a litigious one.

“We are serious about unequal justice in any form,” said Lowery.

Lowery says he is vigorously addressing what he sees as injustice using the courts.
